About BouncA
General
BouncA is a new kind of ball developed in Finland, and a broader concept built around playing and moving in a simple, accessible way. You don't need a court, a net, rackets or a set of rules to get started. You can play alone, with another person or in a group, indoors or outdoors, and even in shallow water. The physical product is the BouncA ball. BouncA is the brand and the wider concept around it.
BouncA doesn't require you to learn a ready-made sport. Games, challenges and rules can be built around it, but the starting point is more open: take the ball, start playing and see where it goes. BouncA can be used for sport and exercise without requiring everyone to enter an established sport first.
It is easy to start, but there is plenty of room to improve. At first, simply returning the ball can be enough. As your control develops, rallies can become faster, movements bigger and returns more creative. BouncA has a low barrier to entry, but the skill ceiling can be surprisingly high.
BouncA is designed as a versatile ball for playing and moving. It can be used very simply for fun, but the same ball can also challenge reaction, rhythm, hand-eye coordination, movement and ball control. That's why we think of it as more than just a ball.
Physically, yes, it is a small ball. But size doesn't tell you very much about what you can do with it. BouncA is designed to create many ways to play and move with one simple piece of equipment, across different environments and skill levels. The idea isn't to make the ball complicated. It's to make the possibilities around it broad.
BouncA is not defined by its size or appearance alone, but by the combination of its physical characteristics and the way it can be used. It is lightweight, soft and highly bouncy, can be played with using your hands and body, and isn't tied to one court, one sport or one set of rules. The BouncA ball was developed specifically around this kind of open-ended play.
You can. BouncA isn't based on the claim that people can't move, play or invent games with other balls. The BouncA ball has been developed for a particular kind of play: lightweight, soft, highly bouncy and usable in many different environments. The difference is much easier to understand by playing with one than by looking at a picture of it.
No. BouncA isn't trying to be miniature tennis, volleyball, padel or any other existing sport. You may recognise elements that remind you of different ball games, but the starting point is different. You don't have to enter an existing game. You can build the game around the ball yourself.
